in-home companion animal euthanasia
"We are all just walking each other home."
-Ram Dass
Everyone experiences loss differently and every loss is unique. Planning for death is similar to planning for a birth- you can prepare for what you can reasonably predict, but life finds ways to surprise us all.
Some people would rather have their pet's last day entirely at home, in their familiar surroundings, for privacy, reduced stress, or to allow for other family members or pets to be present. Some pets may have difficulty with travel from mobility pain or just don't find the car fun anymore. Planning for your pet's last day is likely going to be one of the heaviest responsibilities of your life.
I've gone through this in many ways with my own beloved animals. I've had to make urgent decisions in the clinic to let them go right away and I've had the ability to plan for other pets at home. The pain cuts deep regardless. In the emergency situations, it felt like less of a decision to make and more of one that was made for me. I feel like the weight of the decision is heavier on a better day, but I really cherish the memories of my pets who felt well enough to eat all their favorite foods and were still able to enjoy the beach. The grace and dignity we want for ourselves and loved ones is okay to ask for in your pet.
Whatever the reason, please don't hesitate to reach out to us. We are here to help.
